Mechanical Trouble Hampers Hillier at I-96
LAKE ODESSA, MI (July 27) – Engine
problems in the #5C DIRT Inc. Maxim kept Chad Hillier from having the kind
of run he would like in his first visit to I-96 Speedway in Friday’s World
of Outlaws “Rumble in Michigan” event.
“It was tough to get
going, and our engine laid down in the ‘B,’” Hillier said. “I don’t know if
it did it earlier, but it definitely laid down in the ‘B.’ We were up to
fourth, but we kept slowing down, slowing down and slowing down toward the
end.”
The World of Outlaws
Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year contender was
the 30th-fastest qualifier in the 32-car field with a
17.147-second lap around the semi-banked, ½-mile oval, then
finished seventh in both the Second Heat Race and the “B” Feature.
“We couldn’t get
qualified and we didn’t do much in the heat,” Chad said. “We started eighth
in the ‘B’ and got into a transfer spot, but lost it. I don’t think we
burned the motor up, but something’s not right with it for some reason.
We’re going to put a different one in and ship it back to get it looked
at.”
Hillier and DIRT Inc.
are looking forward to Saturday’s World of Outlaws “Summer of Money” event
at K-C Raceway, a high-banked, 3/8-mile oval in Chillicothe, OH.
“K-C is fast little
place,” Chad
said. “We’re excited to go there. It gets a little dry, but it has really
good banking and it’s pretty racy. We’re looking forward to having a good
night.”
