Kathryne Minter Gets Ready for Busy Week
BEDFORD , TX (July 1) – The torrential rain that has kept Kathryne Minter from racing every weekend certainly hasn’t dampened her spirit.
She and new crew member, Sean McClelland, have used their time wisely, working in the team’s shop getting ready for this week’s American Sprint Car Series on Tour races at Missouri State Fair Speedway (Tuesday) and Double X Speedway (Wednesday).
“I’m really excited about this week’s races in Missouri ,” Kathryne said Sunday. “I’ve only raced in Missouri once (two weeks ago in a Winged Outlaw Warriors event at Springfield Raceway). We were running pretty well in the feature at Springfield , but the rocks in the track cut a hole in my right rear tire. These will be ASCS on Tour races, so the competition will be tougher. That’s OK though; the more experienced drivers I race against the better I’ll get.”
Minter is also planning to race in Saturday’s ASCS Sooner Region at Cowtown Speedway.
“I’m looking forward to coming back to Cowtown, too,” Kathryne said. “It’s my home track, but I haven’t exactly been spectacular there. I’m hoping I can put what I’ve learned to good use.
“I worked on the car with Sean quite a bit last week. We got things really organized and he taught me a lot about compression, shocks and different driving styles. He taught me some handy things I can do to the car, too. We had a bonding day Friday. His brother, Brian McClelland, who also races, was going to run the ASCS Sooner race at Cowtown with us, but it was rained out so we all went to Six Flags Over Texas.”
