TK’ Gets Geared Up for Oval Nationals

LAKE PERRIS , CA (October 31) – Tim Kaeding was one of the fastest drivers in Saturday’s USAC/CRA sprint car event at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

He had not driven a non-winged sprint car in three years when he was crowned co-champion of the ASCS’ Third Annual O’Reilly Sprint Bandits Tour ‘N Topless Midwest Swing in August.

Kaeding showed what he and the #10 Tom Rolfe Trucking Maxim are made of while racing with the World of Outlaws at Perris Auto Speedway on October 20th.

He led the National Sprint Tour with 16 “A” Feature victories last year.

Now it’s time for “TK” to prove how fast he is in a non-winged sprint car at “The PAS.”

Kaeding will be among 70 USAC/CRA sprint car racers competing in the 12th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals Presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply at Perris Auto Speedway Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“This will be our first attempt at it and, hopefully, we’ll continue to be fast,” Tim said Monday. “We’ve proven we’re pretty fast in all of our non-winged races so far, and it’s been a lot of fun. If we can get a top-five finish out of it, it will be great. I’m just going in there expecting to make the show and finish.”

Kaeding, who often exceeds his expectations, will be racing for the $30,000 first prize and a one-of-a-kind, specially designed champions ring. Tim’s brother, Bud, won the event in 2001 and 2002.

The triple-program event will consist of qualifying, heat races and feature races Thursday and Friday, while Saturday’s agenda will be all feature races including a 40-lap main event.

The Perris Auto Speedway spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM on Thursday and Friday, with qualifying starting at approximately 5:00 PM. The spectator gates will open at 3:00 PM on Saturday, with the first race starting at 6:30.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the 215 Freeway near the Lake Perris Fairgrounds – home of the Southern California Fair – approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, exit the Ramona Expressway and go two miles east to the fairgrounds.
