HE SAID IT…

PAUL MCMAHAN ON THE NO. 20 TEAM’S TWO-DAY RUN AT WILLIAMS GROVE SPEEDWAY LAST WEEK:

“On Friday night, we drew a horrible qualifying number. We ended up going out next to last. The track had slowed down almost a full second when I went out to qualify. We ended up qualifying 52nd and didn’t make the cut-off for the heat. I transferred through the D-main and we decided to take a few laps in the C-main and take the provisional for the A-main. We didn’t want to risk getting the car torn up for the A-main at that point. In the A-main, the track was pretty good. It’s just really hard to start that far back. I stayed on the top too long and when I did go to the bottom, everyone else did too. We were able to move forward six spots to finish in 19th.

“Saturday was a much better day for us. We drew really well for qualifying. I was having some engine issues in qualifying, the Chevy engine runs great it’s just we’re still trying to learn how to adjust to the new JEI Chassis. The JEI is a tighter chassis that works really well. We just need to learn how to adjust the entire package. In the heat, the car wasn’t that good and we ended up getting a flat tire. I went back out for the B-main and finished second. In the A-main, we moved forward almost the entire race to finish in the top-10. We’ll keep working on our new set-ups and head to Princeton later this week to try to put Bass Pro Shops in victory lane again as the season comes to a close.”
