Golden State
Challenge Series Schedule Details
Roseville,
CA -
December 13, 2007...The 2008 racing schedule for the Golden State Challenge
410 Sprint Car Series has been released by the office of John Padjen Motorsports. The ‘08 schedule encompasses 24
dates at eight different tracks, starting in early March and finishing up
in late July.
Once again hosting the most Golden State Challenge Series shows will be the
Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.
A total of six nights will be contested at the high-banked 1/4 mile
bullring, including the season opener and the season finale. The year will
be kicked off with the 22nd annual Mini Gold Cup on March 7
& 8, an event that has been going on at Silver Dollar Speedway since
1987. The series will return to Chico
in May for the biggest single night of action, the 18th annual
Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial on Saturday night May
17. The Golden State Challenge Series will also partake in another single
night of competition at Silver Dollar on Saturday July 12 and the season
will then wrap up in Chico
with the two night GSC finale on July 25 & 26.
Returning to host four nights of racing is the 1/3 mile clay oval Thunderbowl Raceway located at the Tulare County
Fairgrounds in Tulare.
The Golden State Challenge Series will compete at the Thunderbowl
on March 29, April 26, May 10 and June 28. The May 10 date is going to be
the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial and the June
28 visit will be the Pombo/Sargent Classic, which
returns to a Summer date in ‘08.
Also hosting four nights of GSC competition will be the tight 1/4 mile Ocean Speedway in Watsonville.
The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds facility will see action on Friday March
14, Saturday April 12, Friday May 30 and Friday July 18. The May 30 date
will be a double header weekend with action the following night in Placerville
and the July 18 event will see something similar, as the series will be at Antioch
the night after that event.
Stepping up and hosting three events in ‘08 will be the Antioch Speedway
bullring with the dates being April 5, July 5 and July 19. Last season the
Contra Costa County Fairgrounds speedway saw some of the most exciting
racing since returning to the GSC schedule in 2003.
The high banks of Placerville Speedway will host the Golden State Challenge
Series two times in 2008. The series will take to the red clay bullring on
March 22 and May 31. As of now it looks like the support class during one
of the Placerville
stops will be the BCRA full sized midgets, which should make for an
exciting night of racing action.
The historic Calistoga Speedway in the Napa Valley
will hold its traditional Memorial Day
weekend double header on May 24 & 25. The weekend pays tribute to California
legends Walter T Ross and Gary Patterson on the scenic ½ mile where speeds
reach 130 mph. For the third year in a row the Petaluma Speedway will host
a pair of events, one on April 19 and the other on June 7. The tacky and
hooked up 3/8 mile track was one of the better facilities this past season
as the track prep was excellent during both visits by the series.
Returning to the schedule for the second straight season is the American
Valley Speedway located in beautiful Quincy.
The Golden State Challenge Series competed in Quincy for the first time in June of last
year and it was definitely a different experience for everyone. The series
will compete at the long 3/8 mile dirt oval on Saturday night May 3.
All of the schedules under the John Padjen
Motorsports banner for the upcoming season will be posted at http://www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com
this weekend.
